ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGER

 HELAYE MAHA GANDHARVAYANAN

          Mr. W.D. Amaradeva is a Sri Lankan singer was born on 5 December 1927 in Moratuwa. He is    the youngest of the family of six children. His first name was Albert Perera of Vannathuwaththa Waduge.

      At an early age, Amaradewa was musically inspired by his father and he was also an excellent violinist through the violin he made out of wood.  Amaradeva was educated at Sri Saddharmodaya mixed school. He is a respected artist who the Sinhala song industry with north Indian ragadhari music.

 He plays musical instruments like Sitar, Tabla and Harmonium. He was also the lead violinist in the Ashokamala film’s band.  His famous songs are “ GILEM OBE GUNA , HANTHANA SIHINE , SADA THARU NIHADAI , MALAHIRU BASINA , WAKKADA LAGA , SANNALIYANE , PERADINAYAKA MA , IRA HADA PAYANA , MA WAWLAN AND THATHTHA UNATH. “

        Amaradeva has won many awards such as the Philipine Ramon Magsaysay Award (2001) , the Indian Padma Shri Award and the Sri Lankan Kalakirthi Presidential Award (1986)  , as well as the Deshmanya Award (1998).

            Due to a sudden illness , he passed away on November 3 , 2016.

  MY FAVORITE TV CHANNEL My favorite it channel is Independent Tv channel. This is Sri Lanka’s first television channel. Founded on 13 th April 1979 by Mr. Shan Wickramasinhaghe. The original name was T.V. Sri Lanka. Famous programs aired on independent television are KOPIKADE, ATAPATTAMA and DORAMADALAWA. All these three were broadcast in the year 2001 Kopikade is a Tv drama that changed the history of Asia.   Atapattama is a program that showed the world amazing things. A program that won the love of the oudience by receiving a record of 12 consecutive awards. Just like Atapattama Mr. Hasantha Hettiarachchi’s Doramadalawa program is also a vary important program. It is a program that has won the most audience responses, which has told the world a lot of knowledge.                 So, this is the only channel that has gifted such important programs to the world.
